General setting guide – QuizyGame

Welcome! to our general setting guide! In this guide we'll learn how to control every seeting that our system has to offer. To understand what every function does, and learn new tips that will turn you into an experienced user - that know not only creating a game, but a whole new experience that will fit every event!

Table of Content:

1. Join screen - Test engine

When this settign is enabled, The game open a special starting screen which tests the remotes connectivity. This screen will show the players remotes ID's, Or the players name (if set) that successfilly connected to the reciever ( after pressing any botton on the remote).

Replacing background media

Additionally, within this settign there's an option to replace the background video/image on the screen:

  • You can upload custom media (image, video, or an existing backgeround from quizygame platform) just like any other screen

  • The uploaded media will also be displayed in the background of the players ranking screen.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • When presenting to a large audience, keep this setting enabled to ensure the majority of players controllers are connected before starting.

  • It is advised to take advantage of the media replacement option:

    • In educational settings – add an opening slide with the event name or a welcome message.

    • In events or competitions – add a logo, short intro video, or marketing message.

If the quiz scores are important (for example: in a school, when the results count toward the students’ official grade summary at the end), it is especially important to activate this setting. This way, you can make sure in advance that all controllers are connected and prevent situations where a student does not receive points due to a technical issue that cannot be fixed during the game.

2. Intro video - QuizyGame

מדריך הגדרות כלליות

When this setting is enabled, the official QuizyGame opening video (about 20 seconds long) will automatically play at the beginning of the game.

The intro provides a dramatic entry into the game, with animation and system branding.

If this setting is disabled, the first screen of the game will be the first question (after the test engine screen, if that is enabled).

Using a Custom Intro Video

If the producer wants to display a custom opening video (for example: a school video, a hosting company video, or a branded clip):

  • Disable the official intro video setting.

  • Also disable the controller check screen setting if not needed.

  • Then, upload the custom video directly as media screen to the first scene of the game (just like adding media to a trivia screen).

💡 Tip for proper use

  • It is recommended to keep the QuizyGame intro video when you want a light, quick, branded start to the game by default.

  • For formal events (e.g., a school graduation ceremony, a company evening, or a customer event), it is best to prepare a custom intro video, creating the right atmosphere from the very first second.

  • Remember: For your custom video to play correctly, you must disable both the QuizyGame intro and the controller check screen. Otherwise, your video will not appear at the start of the game.

3. show top preformers

מסך מובילים

When this setting is enabled, at the end of the game a summary ranking screen appears, showing the players’ positions according to the points they earned during the game.

With this setting you can define:

  • Whether to display the player ranking screen at the end of the game.

  • How many players will be shown in the ranking (for example: only the top 3, or the top 10).

  • If the setting is disabled, the game will end without showing a summary ranking.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • For a competitive game or a final event – it is recommended to display only the top 3 places, to emphasize the sense of winning.

  • In a classroom or training session – it’s better to display more players (e.g., 5–10), to encourage participation even if they didn’t reach first place.

  • In a learning-focused game where scoring is less important – you can leave this option disabled, to avoid unnecessary competition.

4. countdown

הגדרת ספירה לאחור

The countdown setting adds a short intro segment where a countdown animation (3...2...1) is displayed before the start of the game or before a specific screen.

Purpose: To create drama, focus, and preparation for the players before beginning a question or the entire quiz.

General Countdown – via General Settings

  • Adds an automatic countdown to all screens of the game.

  • Suitable when you want consistency and a continuous game experience, with built-in drama before every screen.

  • Not recommended for games with many screens, as it can significantly extend the game duration.

Screen-Specific Countdown – via Advanced Screen Settings

  • Allows you to enable a countdown only on selected screens as needed.

  • Suitable when you want to emphasize a particular question or create a climax before an important screen.

5. Show 3 top players on answer display

3 מובילים בחשיפת תשובה

When this setting is enabled, every time a correct answer is revealed during the game, a small panel appears above the question showing the top 3 players who answered that question correctly.

This way, players can see in real time who is leading and who is climbing toward the top — not just at the end of the game or on the final ranking screen.

  • The panel appears immediately after the correct answer is revealed, before moving to the next question.

  • Only the top three positions are displayed.

  • If the setting is disabled, players will see only the correct answer, without displaying the leaders for that question.

6.Quiz Upper Layout

הגדרות פריסה עליונה
differences between layouts

This setting lets you choose where the game interface will appear on the screen:

  • Top layout – All information (player names, scores, control panel) is displayed at the top of the screen.

  • Bottom layout – The information is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

The change affects the placement of the game window and real-time scoring display.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • When building the template, it is recommended to choose your media files according to the interface layout you plan to use.

  • If you're using images or videos with objects at the top, it’s better to keep the interface at the bottom.

  • In classroom or educational activities, it’s recommended to choose the top layout so that questions and answers can be viewed more easily from a distance.

7. Answers in separate rows

ree

When this setting is enabled, each answer in a question is displayed on the screen in a clear, separate line.

When the setting is disabled, the answers appear in a more compact format, grouped closely together.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • For large audiences or when projecting on distant screens – it’s recommended to enable this setting so that answers are shown more clearly and distinctly.

  • For questions with long text in the answers – it’s better to use separate lines to maintain readability and a clean design.

  • When there is an odd number of answers (e.g., 3 or 5), separate lines are also preferable to maintain symmetry and visual balance.

  • If you want to keep a compact design and leave more screen space for background media – you can keep the setting disabled.

8. Scoring method - no time

By default, the system awards points to players based on response speed – meaning the faster a player answers, the higher their score.

When the “Scoring Method – Without Time” setting is enabled, all players who answered correctly receive the same score, regardless of how quickly they pressed their answer.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • In educational or learning activities – it is recommended to use this option to prevent an advantage for particularly fast players and to encourage equal opportunities.

  • In situations where you want to test knowledge only, and not reaction speed – this setting is useful.

  • For a more dynamic and competitive quiz (such as company contests or final events) – it’s better to keep time-based scoring, to add excitement and challenge.

9.Allow changing choice

By default, once a player selects an answer, their choice is locked, and they cannot change it.

When this setting is enabled, players can change their answer multiple times during the time limit set for the question. The last answer chosen before time runs out will be the one that counts.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • In educational activities – it is recommended to enable this setting, so students can rethink and correct themselves if they remember the right answer.

  • In a competitive, fast-paced quiz – it’s better to keep the option disabled, to maintain suspense and reward players who are confident in their answers.

  • In mixed-audience events (such as groups or families) – this setting can make participation easier and create a more friendly experience.

10. Hide wrong answers

התשובות השגויות מוסתרות עם הצגת התשובה הנכונה

When the “Hide Wrong Answers” setting is enabled, at the end of each question only the correct answer is displayed to players – all other answers are removed from the screen.

In the default mode, when the setting is disabled, the incorrect answers remain visible, and the correct answer is highlighted in green.

💡 Tip for proper use

  • In educational or learning quizzes – it is recommended to keep all answers visible, so participants can also learn from the incorrect options.

  • In competitive or experience-focused games – it is recommended to enable the setting, creating a clean and clear display that highlights only the correct answer.

  • In large audience events – hiding wrong answers contributes to a clearer and more visually appealing screen.

11. Allow early answers

When this setting is enabled, the players can choose their answer right when the question appears, before the timer even began.

In the defualt settings (when's off) , answering is only possible after all answers have been displayed and the timer has started.

12.Hide game hud

הצגת מספר השחקנים שענו נכון או טעו (מיקום במסך משתנה בהתאם לסוג פריסה)
הצגת מספר השחקנים שענו נכון או טעו (מיקום במסך משתנה בהתאם לסוג פריסה)

When the “Hide Players Answers” setting is enabled, during the game the number of player choices will not be displayed on the screen in real time.

By default (when the setting is disabled) – it is possible to see how many players answered correctly or incorrectly.

13.Hide game timer

ree

When the “Hide Game Timer” setting is enabled, the countdown clock during a question will not be displayed on the screen, except for a beep sound heard during the final seconds of the voting period.

By default (when the setting is disabled), players can see the timer and how much time remains to answer.

14.Give penalty for wrong answer

When the “Give penalty for wrong answer” setting is enabled, players who answer incorrect lose points from their total score based on the time remaining on the timer.

By default (when the setting is disabled) – players do not lose any points for incorrect answers.

When to use this setting:

  • Increase the challenge – to make players think twice before answering impulsively.

  • Competitive games – when you want to test both accuracy and caution, not just general knowledge.

  • Final events or advanced stages – in situations where every point matters and it’s important to distinguish between closely scored players.

💡 Tip for proper use

It is recommended to enable this setting when you want to emphasize correct answers and reduce guessing. For example:

  • In a school competition or a final event, deducting points for mistakes maintains seriousness and improves scoring accuracy.

  • Conversely, in a casual event or an experiential quiz – it’s better to keep this setting disabled so as not to discourage participation.

15.share email

ree

When you anable the share by Email option, you can send the template you have prepared to another user registered in the system. The user will receive access to the gam file - either in download mode for immediate use, or in edit mode, so that they can change and customize the template themselves.

16.Set time and score for all questions

In the game settings, two main patameters can be set for each question:

  1. Time to answer - how many seconds the players have to answer

  2. Number of points - how many point will be awarded for a correct answer.

This setting can be changes in two different places:

  • General setting - sets a unifrom time and score for all questions.

  • Advanced setting ( per screen) - allows you to adust different times and scores for eac question individually.

General setting (uniform for all questions)

  • Located under the general settings of the quiz

  • suitable when you want all questions to remain in the same format ( for example; 20 seconds and 5 points per questions)

  • Advantage: Saves time in setup and creates a balaced and clear game for the players.

ree

Advanced settings ( per screen)

  • Are found within the settings of each question or screen

  • Suitable for when there are more difficult questions that require a long time, or easy/quick questions that can be allocated less time and score

  • Advantage: Allows full control and customization of the question level.

ree

💡 tips for proper use

  • if you are creating a basic or short game show - choose the same time and score on all screens

  • if the goal is to test knowledge at different levels - take advantage of the advanced setting to change time and score according to the difficulty level of each question

  • For a smart combination: start with simple questions with less time and fewer points, and continue with more challenging questions with more time and more score - this way the game stays interesting and the tension gradually increases
